Bar Beach features
If you’re thinking of buying property in Bar Beach, it’s because you want access to the ocean. One of Newcastle’s biggest beaches, it’s also one of the most popular.
The kiosk on the beach serves food and coffee from dawn to dusk, giving you a chance to refuel in the shade.
You also have access to Susan Gilmore Beach and the start of the ANZAC Memorial Walk.
Across the road from the beach, there’s a large green space: Empire Park. In summer, it’s a cricket ground (and host of Carols by the Beach) but there’s also tennis courts, a skate park, a bowling club and a playground.
Although highly desirable, property in Bar Beach is rare. With only 1200 or so people living in the suburb, there aren’t too many homes listed for sale at any one point. And when they are, they’re some of the most expensive in Newcastle (for good reason).
