Georgetown features
Named after the old English king, Georgetown is a nice little suburb. Reasonable house prices, streets where you get to know your neighbours, a good location and small shops and restaurants on your doorstep.
Georgetown zoning means that there’s no actual green spaces in the suburb, but there’s plenty just outside the red dotted lines. To the north is Waratah with its Park and many ovals, to the south you’ve got McDonald Jones Stadium and the large green space surrounding it.
Keeping in this fashion, although there aren’t any major shops in Georgetown, there are plenty you can see from across the road. Standing on Turton Road, you can look over to the shops at Waratah Village where you’ve got a Coles, Kmart and plenty of bakeries, ice cream shops and smaller options.
In the suburb itself, you’ll find takeaways, hairdressers and other local businesses doted along Georgetown Road. Creative Village has set up a small art gallery along here, celebrating the work of local artists and creatives.
With the planned redevelopment of Broadmeadow in the coming years, property values in neighbouring Georgetown are expected to rise significantly. If you’re interested in this area, don’t wait too long to buy.
