Jesmond features
Out on the western fringes of Newcastle, Jesmond is a popular suburb for students and young families. Close to the uni at Callaghan and sandwiched between North Lambton and Wallsend, it’s close to pretty much anything you could want.
In fact, you don’t need to leave Jesmond for too much. Jesmond Central sells most of your everyday needs – and is home to Newcastle’s only Taco Bell – and what it doesn’t, you can find at the Fruit Barn or Asia Pacific Groceries.
Jesmond Park is one of the best in Newcastle, with a cricket oval, a playground and access to bush trails. A regular spot for birthday parties, it’s loved by families in all nearby suburbs. Jesmond Park is also home to the Newy’s first disc golf course.
Close to the inner city bypass, Jesmond has easy access out of Newcastle, too. Whether you want to go to Raymond Terrace, the Hunter Valley or further up the coast, it’s a great starting point for some of the best road trips in Australia.
