Mayfield East features
All of the Mayfield suburbs have come up in recent years with a gentrification programme smoothing off some rough edges. The property in Mayfield East has done particularly well with homes going up $200k and units almost $300k in the two years up to February 2026.
There aren’t too many cafes or restaurants in the suburb, but Mayfield East does boast Equium Social, one of Newcastle’s best-loved cafes known for its laid-back vibes and tremendous food. Other than that it’s slim pickings, but it’s just a short stroll over to Mayfield and its thriving high street.
The same is true of green spaces. Other than the small Ingall Park, there’s not much in the way of nature. Just outside the boundary line is Awabakal Park and the Mayfield Swimming Centre. It’s also just a short drive to places like the Hunter Wetlands and Glenrock Reserve.
Mayfield East is a great spot to get around town, whether it’s into Newcastle CBD and its beaches or out further to Hexham, Maitland and Raymond Terrace via Industrial Drive.
