Minmi features
Minmi is one of the few suburbs in Newy that saw a noticeable drop in value over 2025, topping the table of Newcastle’s worst performing suburbs. This is mainly due to proposed redevelopment of bushland to accommodate more housing which local residents have been opposed to. However, if you’re looking to get your foot on the ladder, 2026 might be the best possible time to buy in Minmi.
That bushland completely encapsulates Minmi. Right on its doorstep is Blue Gum Hills, one of the city’s most popular nature spots (and home to one of the city’s Parkrun routes). Minmi also touches onto Pambalong Nature Reserve (shared with Lenaghan) and is the start of the Rail Trail walking track.
Despite its small size, Minmi has plenty to keep its residents entertained. Minmi Hotel is a constant favourite, but you can also head to Minmi Courthouse or R U Hungry if you want a different menu.
For families, there’s a public school, soccer and tennis facilities, and a small playground.
Minmi is in a quiet spot just off the M1, giving you easy access to Raymond Terrace, Port Stephens and the rest of the country to the north.
