Newcastle features
As the eponymous suburb of the city, Newcastle has many incredible features. From Newcastle beach with its ocean baths to Hunter Street Mall and Civic Park, it’s clear to see the appeal of the location.
The CBD is Newcastle’s cultural hub. Home to Civic Theatre, Newcastle Comedy Club, Newcastle Museum and the city’s largest library, it’s got something to appeal to all. Add in popular local burger joint, the council building that’s turned into a five-star hotel and an inner-city brewery and you can complete a night out in style. Alternatively, just head to Honeysuckle and enjoy waterfront dining and nightlife in one spot.
Nearby Darby Street adds to the appeal, giving you plenty of bar, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance.
Housing in Newcastle is a mix of the old and new. Some houses date back hundreds of years, while the current redevelopments of Honeysuckle and the mall is bringing an influx of modern apartments to an area that’s due for a facelift.
Construction work along Hunter Street has brought new life to the area as well, with a tram added in recent years as well as an ultra-modern campus for the University of Newcastle.
