What's it like to live in Stockton?
Stockton is famously Newcastle’s only overseas suburb, most easily accessible from the CBD by ferry.
Sitting at the end of a peninsula, Stockton is a quiet suburb which, similar to areas like Carrington, has its own culture and sense of community. The local village vibe makes it very popular with families who like the safety of the area and the ability to know those around them.

Stockton features
Stockton’s village vibe brings itself out through the small businesses in the area. You’ve got an IGA, , a chemist, some takeaways and bars, but little else. If you want to go the biggest shops, you’ve got a fair drive on your hands or you’ll have to time it to perfection with Newy’s public transport system.
The beach is a huge draw in Stocko, both for families and people looking for a casual stroll up towards the dunes. Shipwreck Walk is another popular spot to take the dog for some exercise.
For families, Griffith Park and its new playground is a hit, especially with the coffee cart, and there are plenty of green areas and sporting ovals in the area.
The ferry over to Newcastle opens up a lot of options for cafes, restaurants and work, but getting anywhere else in Newcastle can be a bit tricky. While this isolation can be frustrating for some, it’s very reassuring for others.
