Wallsend features
If you live in Wallsend, it’s never far to what you need.
Wallsend Village is a small shopping centre with all the vital requirements – two supermarkets, a post office, a food court and options for haircuts, phone repair and even a bar. Across the road is Wallsend Library and on nearby Nelson Street, you’ll find plenty of restaurants, op shops and Asian grocery stores.
Just off Nelson Street you’ll find Federal Park, one of the biggest green spaces in the area. Here you’ll find soccer fields, cricket ovals and an athletics track with all the trimmings (including long jump sandpits and a hammer-throwing net). Right beside this is the $1.5m active hub with soccer/basketball courts, outdoor gym equipment and a tennis wall. But it doesn’t stop there, there’s also a great playground and Wallsend Pool.
For families, there’s also the Brickworks park (which is popular for playdates, birthday parties and bushwalks) and Wallsend Park with a further two ovals and a small playground.
Elsewhere in the suburb, you’ve got Wallsend Diggers, a Bunnings and some of the best Thai restaurants in the area.
