Waratah features
Waratah is a suburb that’s designed around a modern family’s needs. The shops at Waratah Village have everything you need – with a Coles, Kmart, MyCar and Baskin Robbins – but for a more personal shopping experience you can head to the strip along Station Street. You can also find bars – like the Royal and Town Hall Hotel – and coffee shops, with Lords a favourite among locals.
Waratah is also popular with religious communities, with a number of schools and churches found in this suburb.
The Calvary Mater Hospital is also in Waratah, giving peace of mind to many should an emergency occur.
The best – and safest – green space is by Waratah Oval/Park but it’s also a stone’s throw to Smith Park and the green spaces in Broadmeadow around the McDonald Jones Stadium.
Its location on the crossroads by the stadium means drivers have easy access to pretty much every other suburb in Newcastle, as well as on towards Lake Macquarie and Raymond Terrace. Waratah also has its own train station for journeys down to Sydney.
