Newcastle now has a population of approximately 169,000, with a median age of 37. The average number of people per household is 2.4, and the median weekly household income is $1,760.
Nearly 70% of residential dwellings in Newcastle are standalone houses, and the majority have 3 bedrooms. Novocastrians who were paying off a mortgage in 2021 were paying a median of $1,987 per month, while those renting were paying $400 per week. Approximately 60% of Newcastle residents own or are paying off their own home.

Lake Macquarie Stats
Lake Macquarie now has a population of just under 214,000, with a median age of 42. The average number of people per household is 2.5, and the median weekly household income is $1,623.
85% of residential dwellings in Lake Macquarie are standalone houses, and the majority have 3 or 4 bedrooms. Lake Macquarie residents who were paying off a mortgage in 2021 were paying a median of $1,950 per month, while those renting were paying $375 per week. Just over 73% of Lake Macquarie residents own or are paying off their own home.

Maitland now has a population of just over 90,000, with a median age of 36. The average number of people per household is 2.7, and the median weekly household income is $1,766.

Maitland residents who were paying off a mortgage in 2021 were paying a median of $1,829 per month, while those renting were paying $370 per week. 67% of Maitland residents own or are paying off their own home.
